How should a Wi-Fi guide be made so guests can connect at once?
Just writing down the name and password is not enough if you want guests not to ask for Wi-Fi. If they type the password manually and make a mistake, they end up messaging the host. You can eliminate this hassle with a QR code that connects just by scanning with a camera. When you point the default camera on iPhone (iOS 11 or later) and Android (10 or later) at the QR, a “Network connection” prompt appears immediately, so there is no need to install a separate app.
The QR size is determined based on the scanning distance. The standard is “the length of one side of the QR is at least 1/10 of the scanning distance”. Since people scan from a distance of 40-80cm in front of the front door or shoe rack, 4-8cm per side is enough. That's why the default setting puts 4 postcards on a single A4 sheet. When viewing from a distance of 1-2m, such as on a refrigerator or living room wall, using the single A4 sheet format is recommended. A white margin of at least 4mm was left around the QR for good recognition, and logos or colors that reduce recognition rates were not included.
A multilingual sign tells guests at a glance that they can “scan with the camera”. Most Wi-Fi QR generators support one language only. This tool shows the “Wi-Fi” label and the line “Scan with your camera to connect” in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese together, the languages of the guests most likely to stay with an English-speaking host.
The Wi-Fi name and password are generated only in your device's browser and are not sent to the server. Printing also uses the browser's own function, so no files remain on the server. If you include the guest guide page address, the guide page QR is included next to the paper so guests can easily check the accommodation guide in their native language after connecting to Wi-Fi.

- What if I scan the QR and the connection prompt doesn't appear?
- You must scan with the default camera app. QR scanners in KakaoTalk or Naver apps sometimes do not support the Wi-Fi connection standard. If it is not recognized, the name and password are printed below the QR so they can be entered manually.
- Do you send the password to the server?
- No, we do not. The QR code is created only within the current browser, and printing is also a browser feature. Once you close the page, the entered information completely disappears.
- Does it work with hidden Wi-Fi or enterprise (802.1X) Wi-Fi?
- It is not supported. This QR code is for general personal Wi-Fi (WPA/WPA2/WPA3) standards accessed with a name and password. Most general accommodation Wi-Fi can be used without problems.
- What is the guest guide page QR?
- This is the address of the accommodation guide page created on Sonnim. If you paste the accommodation usage guide, it is created for free, and guests can check it in their own language without signing up. If you enter the address, the guide page QR will be included next to the paper.
